Build a wood custom pedal board - page 2

  • Using a pencil mark outline of power supply and each pedal. Mark where tie wrap(s) will be located to hold pedals to board. Note, the older Boss pedals are not easily secured with tie wraps. Generally you can only get one tie wrap around those pedals to secure them (see Chorus pedal in below pics). I suggest you use the velcro method to secure them to the board.
  • Mark where larger holes will be located to pass wires under board.

  • Drill tie wrap holes using 1/4" drill bit. Make sure you have a scrap piece of wood underneath to prevent exit whole splintering.
  • Drill power cable holes using 1" drill bit.
  • Sand to remove rough spots and wipe clean to remove any dust.
  • Finish with one coat of wood stain followed by two coats of a polyurathane finish. Lightly sand between coats. Note to save time, I used a combo stain+urathane product instead. Didn't quite like the resulting finish so I don't recommend using these kind of products.
  • Once dried, give a final light polishing/sanding to remove any rough spots.

  • Install handles.
  • Secure power supply using tie wraps. Run the power cables under the board.

  • Secure pedals to the board using tie wraps. Start with the central pedal and work outwards. Plug them up together as you go. You may have to adjust the position of a pedal or two depending on the space you need for cables. You may also have to drill additional tie wrap holes.
