Why Website

I get asked once in a while why I started this website. Well, I started the site back in Jan 2012 when I was in a rock band. I found myself in charge of getting song sheets (with tabs and chord progressions) organized for the band. I would, as most people do, search the web for ready made ones that somone else had already spent the time and effort to create and post on one of may tab sites that still exist today.

The problem was that most of the ones I found were (nine times ot of ten) innacurate in terms of chords, chord progressions, lyrics, guitar tabs, identifying special parts/quirks/timing/beats and which version (live, studion, re-release) of the song the song sheet refers to. Often the songs were presented in a different key, in a hard to read format, were missing sections or were just downright incorrect. I found that I was spending time validating and verifying the contents, correcting and adding additional notes and instructions. I was also re-formatting the content so that it was presented in the same general format and used the same general notations.

After a while I figured I would save myself some time and effort and just create the song sheets myself. A side effect of doing this was that I got some practical ear training exercises without even knowing it.

Ear training is a skill which helps you to identify pitches, intervals, melody, chords, rhythms and other basic elements of music. When you get good at it, you can quickly write down the chord progressions, melodies and basic elements of a song.

Over the years I've gotten pretty good at it and have interpret over 500 songs and publish the song sheets to this website. The song sheets I publish identify which version of the song I used as the source of the interpretation (live, studio, re-release) and are presented in the same general format and use the same general notation.

My goal is to provide fellow musicians of any skill level a useful song sheet which will help them save time and effort when learning a new song and to use this site as a reference when they need a song sheet to play a given song.

That's why I created this website.
